Where did heathland come from?

Heathland may appear to be "natural" but in fact it has been created largely by human exploitation over the last 4,000 years. To find out more about this remarkable story,come to Dr Nigel Webb's talk "Where did heathland come from?" on Monday 17 February, 7.30, Sandford Community Hall. Entrance is free and refreshments will be available.

Nigel is Europe's leading authority on heathland. In addition to his many books and articles, he wrote the chapter Geology and Landscape of the Parish of Wareham St Martin for the Sandford Heritage Project's booklet Sandford Heritage, History and Wildlife of a Dorset Parish. Nigel is currently Chairman of Dorset Wildlife Trust.
